Strategic Procurement Manager (m/f/d)

YOUR ROLE

As Strategic Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for procurement activities within a high growth climate tech start- up: NexWafe. For example, all relevant purchasing for our new production facility and other strategic projects during the expansion of our operations will be in your hands. You will work closely with our technology and quality department to understand project requirement and translate them into a project procurement strategy. It will be based at the company’s headquarters in Freiburg, with some flexibility for hybrid working. The close contact with our management will allow you to move quickly and help continue yours and NEXWAFE´s growth!

ABOUT YOU

  • You have successfully completed commercial/ technical studies or comparable qualificationYou master business management knowledge coupled with technical affinity
  • You will demonstrate “5+” years experience as strategic procurement manager of semiconductors, silicon wafers, photovoltaic, electronics, high tech products, industrial coating systems
  • You have expertise in managing purchasing projects, monitoring by milestones and implementing processes and tools as well as category management
  • You are adept working and negotiating with capital equipment vendors and chemical suppliers
  • You will have a sound legal understanding pertaining to commercial law, customs regulations, transport of goods and services, with experience of negotiating and securing highly favourable agreements with suppliers from Asia, US and Europe
  • You possess strong ability to build relationship with suppliers to negotiate out of the box solutions and to advance delivery times and you are a team player
  • You relish working within an international environment
  • You are independent, resilient, structured, solution oriented
  • You own proactive mindset, high level of commitment, strong communication and negotiation skills
  • You embrace change, possess a continuous improvement mindset, you have passion for exceeding company and customer expectations
  • You lead negotiations in German and English language (spoken and written)

YOUR TASKS

  • Early and late involvement of procurement in strategic important development projects as well as in procuring materials & components
  • Interface between engineering department, purchasing, and suppliers
  • Secure relevant procurement services in optic “end to end”: from understanding of the need downstream to related aftermarket activities
  • Draft, decide and present the sourcing strategy in coordination with line manager & internal stakeholders for commodity groups such as production machine / investment items and/or external services
  • Identification of suppliers and final selection in cooperation with the technical department / project team
  • Align project schedules with involved suppliers
  • Order processing of technical complex demands
  • Responsible for: achievement of the objectives of cost optimizations including design to cost and cost to target, product lifecycle, PO throughput, OTD, OTQ, PM, SRM, risk management, supply base dimensioning & global footprint, departmental continuous improvement & digital strategy related to assigned scope
  • Provide forward-looking guidance on trends, threats and opportunities in own categories (f.e. raw materials, metallic parts, electrics, investments etc.)
  • Master negotiation and creation of contractual frameworks, for example, NDA and long term contracts
